Transatlantic Alliance For New Trade Show

11/16/2009

Gathered at Agritechnica, the world’s largest machinery show, the Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM) and the German Agricultural Society (DLG) announced their strategic transatlantic alliance meant to bring the world of agriculture together. Tagged as the next generation in trade shows for the U.S., AG CONNECT Expo is the first joint project of the alliance.

Held Jan. 12 to 15, 2010 in Orlando, Fla., AG CONNECT builds on the successes both organizations have had with exhibitions. Joining forces to make it happen is a win/win for both non-profits – and the countries they represent, according to Carl-Albrecht Bartmer, DLG president, who is a farmer himself.

“The primary goal is to coordinate dates for Agritechnica and the Expo, so there is a major show every year,” Bartmer said. “We see this partnership between Agritechnica and AG CONNECT Expo as benefiting global agriculture at large.” Click here to watch Bartmer’s remarks.

The new AG CONNECT, designed to be a gathering place for agriculture, is a dream come true for Martin Richenhagen, CEO of AGCO and chairman of AEM. “I had a dream of having a farm show like Agritechnica in the U.S.,” he said. “My dream came true when I became president of AEM.” Click here to watch Richenhagen.

Partnering with the DLG makes sense as agriculture moves toward bigger and more focused global shows, Richenhagen said.

A show like AG CONNECT has been talked about for 30 years and AEM appreciates Richenhagen being a key catalyst to make it happen, according to Charlie O’Brien with AEM. The driving force behind pulling the show together, O’Brien is pleased with the support AG CONNECT receiving around the world. Up to 300 exhibitors are expected and attendees will have the chance to attend several co-located events as well as 34 educational seminars.

“At this point, 30% of our registrants for the show are registering for an educational seminar,” he said. Click here to learn more from O’Brien.
