CROP PROGRESS:

GOOD MORNING I'M CLINTON GRIFFITHS. ANOTHER WEEK, ANOTHER SPRING STORM IS WORKING ITS WAY ACROSS THE COUNTRY, BRINGING WITH IT COLD AND SNOW. ELSEWHERE, ABOUT 23% OF THE NATION'S RICE CROP HAS BEEN PLANTED. THAT'S BEHIND THE FIVE YEAR AVERAGE AND LESS THAN HALF OF WHAT IT WAS LAST YEAR AT THIS TIME.

CROP WATCH:

AS YOU SAW, THE NORTHERN PLAINS GOT SNOW OVER THE WEEKEND AND IT LOOKS LIKE MORE IS ON THE WAY. MIKE HOFFMAN SHOWS US HOW THAT'S SLOWING THINGS DOWN IN THIS MORNING'S CROP WATCH.
HIGH SPEED RAIL:

CALIFORNIA GOVERNOR JERRY BROWN BOARDED A HIGH SPEED TRAIN FROM BEIJING TO SHANGHAI THURSDAY AS PART OF AN OFFICIAL VISIT TO CHINA. BROWN WANTS TO BUILD A SIMILAR TRANSPORT LINK IN CALIFORNIA THAT STRETCHES FROM SAN FRANSISCO TO LOS ANGELES. BUT THE PROPOSED RAIL LINE RUNS RIGHT THROUGH THE HEART OF CALIFORNIA'S DAIRY COUNTRY.

DAIRY PRICES:

DAIRY PRICES CONTINUED THEIR RALLY MONDAY. THAT'S AFTER A STRONG SHOWING LAST WEEK. CLASS THREE FUTURES FOR APRIL AND JULY WERE UP OVER A DIME. CHEESE BARRELS HAVE CLIMBED ABOUT 15 CENTS SINCE THE END OF MARCH. PUSHING MARKETS HIGHER IS THE CONTINUED DROUGHT IN NEW ZEALAND AND LOWER U.S. MILK PRODUCTION ESTIMATES.
