TODAY ON AGDAY

AUGUST 25, 2014

OPEN HEADLINES:

COMING UP TODAY ON AGDAY - WHEAT HARVEST IN THE NORTHERN PLAINS...IT WAS TOUGH GETTING IT IN AND TOUGH GETTING IT OFF. AN UPDATE FROM NORTH DAKOTA... PLUS THE FINAL TALLEY FROM THE 2014 PROFARMER MIDWEST CROP TOUR. WE WOULD REALLY LIKE TO GET TO OCTOBER 10 WITHOUT A FROST. AND THESE YOUNG NEW ENGLANDERS ARE FINDING A FITTING CAREER BACK ON THE FARM. AGDAY BROUGHT TO YOU BY THE ALL NEW CHEVY SILVERADO THE 2014 NORTH AMERICAN TRUCK OF THE YEAR.

NORTH DAKOTA WHEAT:

CLINTON…GOOD MORNING I'M CLINTON GRIFFITHS. WHILE WINTER WHEAT HARVEST IS NEARLY OVER…SOME FARMERS IN THE UPPER PLAINS STRUGGLE TO BRING IN THAT CROP...AND OTHER SMALL GRAINS. ...AND THAT'S OUR TOP STORY ON AGDAY.

CANADA WHEAT:

CLINTON…THANKS CLIFF. WHEAT FUTURES ENDED LAST WEEK ON AN UPTICK FOLLOWING LOWER EXPECTATIONS FROM CANADA. THE WORLD'S SECOND LARGEST EXPORTER EXPECTING TO HARVEST 26 PERCENT LESS WHEAT THIS YEAR… HEAVY RAINS BRINGING POTENTIAL OF CROP LOSSES AND HARVEST DELAYS... CANADIAN PRODUCTION EXPECTED AT NEARLY 28 (27.7) MILLION TONS DOWN FROM LAST YEAR'S 37 AND HALF MILLION.

CROP TOUR ESTIMATES:

CLINTON…AFTER FOLLOWING ALONG ALL LAST WEEK, THE PROFARMER MIDWEST CROP TOUR ENDED WITH ITS OFFICIAL PREDICTION FOR HARVEST. AND IT'S NOT FAR FROM WHAT USDA IS EXPECTING.
