Good morning I’m Clinton Griffiths. Work is underway to open the way for barge traffic on the Mississippi. But is it enough?
Thanks Tyne. The newest drought monitor report shows a slight reduction in the country's overall drought status.
While drought continues, the USDA put out numbers of what it’s done to help so far. It says 2.8 million CRP acres were utilized for emergency haying and grazing. A move estimated to be worth 140 to 200-million dollars in forage for producers. It also eased market pressure, puting 170 million dollars’ worth of meat for federal food programs. USDA also gave an update on its conservation stewardship program which focuses on improving water and soil quality and enhancing wildlife habitats. So far, 50 million acres have been enrolled in CSP, equating to 78-thousand square miles.

But they expect the country's 980-thousand restaurants to post record sales and be a leading job creator in the new year.
