INFORMA NUMBERS:

Good morning I’m Al Pell in for Clinton Griffiths. Could the new year bring a new high for corn acres?

COTTON:

Adams says the National Cotton Council is collecting data right now for its annual prospective plantings forecast. Those results will be released at their annual meeting in February.

BELTWIDE:

Before then, the Beltwide Cotton Conferences will be held in early January in San Antonio, Texas. AgDay will be there covering the event.

RURAL MAINSTREET INDEX:

2012 will be ending on a high note when it comes to good farmland.   Economist Ernie Goss from Creighton University says farmland prices in the cornbelt rose for a 35th consecutive month. Each month Goss compiles his "rural mainstreet index".

TAX TIPS:

Talks about the fiscal cliff is keeping some farmers on edge, wondering what tax changes will occur in 2013. AgDay has been highlighting some of these changes with Expert Farm CPA Paul Neiffer. Neiffer told AgDay while some changes are pending, one thing that will change is the Medicare surtax next year.
