Don't Miss Profit College

March 6, 2012

Don’t miss an exciting chance to improve your profitability with Farm Journal’s Profit College. Join Farm Journal Economist Bob Utterback, Farm Journal Columnist Moe Russell and Top Producer Columnist Chris Barron tomorrow, March 7, in Ames, Iowa, for this top-notch one-day event.

"We feel that volatility will continue and production agriculture will experience cycles," Russell says. "We most likely won’t have the kind of margins in the future that we had in 2011."

He says attendees will learn how to understand these cycles and take advantage of them. "If you bulletproof your balance sheet during the good times, you can capitalize on opportunities that we know will occur when the economy cycles."

Producers will be asked to bring their own production data to the event. By doing this, Russell says, they will be able to drill down on their data and compare it with other attendees’. "It’s tough to find good individual benchmarking data," he adds.

Russell urges producers to put together a plan to manage margins and determine their profit potential for the years ahead. "You can’t manage what you can’t quantify," he says.
