April 19, 2013
By: Nate Birt, Top Producer Deputy Managing Editor google +

Weather conditions varied widely this week across the U.S., with some communities experiencing flooding and others still in drought. Meanwhile, strong storms resulted in tornado watches.

We asked "I Studied Ag" Facebook community members to weigh in on what they're seeing in their respective state. Post your own weather observations here, then scroll down to read more perspectives from other states:

April 2013 Weather 1

Just spoke with a Nebraska farmer who says his part of the country is under a winter weather advisory with 2" of snow on the ground. Here in Missouri, we've got pools of water and more rain pouring down. What's the weather doing in your state? /Nate

  • I Studied Agriculture & I Have A Job Wow, talk about a diverse weather outlook! Two requests: First, can you post some photos to show me what conditions are like in your area? I'm working on a story and would love some visuals (you'll get full credit). Second, I’d recommend checking out ProFarmer's Midwest Crop Tour page for weather and crop comments updates if you're into that kind of information. Thanks for your help! /Nate

  • Kevin Lehar Central California has been exceptionally dry and very windy.
  • Ashley Dilworth A warm 70, windy, and tornado warnings here in Midwest Ohio.

  • Darrin Schmidt Just got 11 inches in ND. We're a good month out.

  • David Holden I hope that all is a good sign for the corn and beans this year! California coast is bright and sunny and will be in the 70's today.

  • Tim Mendonca Just water issues here in California

  • Gary Hausken 55 mi sw of Chicago--flooding--5 ft down Sunday clay was dry--today 5" rain and floods--it can't go down that fast as much as we need it!!I ran in to cornstalk jams and water on 5 roads and gave up and went back home and called it--basement w/water sumps can't keep up in the 100 yr + farm house today!!!!!Stay safe Janelle Bols!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Dan Warner SWMN - winter storm warning, ~2-3" so far expecting 6+ and 30 mph wind, all the schools closed mid morning, just melted some of the 12" we got a week ago. Last year we were well into planting at this time. Still not very wet here.

  • Ty Anderson About 1/2 to 1" of rain near Austin, Texas and 49 degrees

  • Melissa Rae Gerner Jefferson County, WI (just east of Madison)- low 40's and WET... flooding and road closures throughout the area. Forecast shows more rain to come over the next 10 days and temps only as high as 61 if we're lucky, otherwise low 50s. Going to be awhile before we can even think of getting into fields.
