The McCormick-Deering 10-20 and 15-30 were supposed to be the Next Big Thing for the International Harvester Company in the early 1920s. Much to the McCormick family’s dismay, Henry Ford was cranking out a huge volume of his loud, dangerous and compact Fordson tractors, and farmers were buying the little machines in greater volume than the large clunky offerings by the rest of the industry. The IHC response was to throw every bit of might they had into creating the McCormick-Deering 10-20 and 15-30, and both offered the latest technology coupled with class-leading durability and engineering. They were vast improvements over the Fordson, but they couldn’t cultivate. The Farmall Regular could, and it turned out to be the tractor that changed the world.
