For those with no strong ties to either the Atlanta Falcons of New England Patriots playing in the Super Bowl this weekend, the commercials are the big draw to tune into the game.

Typically, the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) runs commercials with sad-looking animals in shelters. In many ways, those commercials are misleading to where the money actually goes.

On AgriTalk Friday, host Mike Adams spoke with Will Coggin of Humane Watch, the organization that is countering the commercial with their representation of what the HSUS does with the funds.

Hear what Coggin has to say on AgriTalk above.

There is a difference between the Humane Society of America and the Humane Society of the United States. Your local Humane Society cares for animals and some investigate animal cruelty cases. The Humane Society of the United States does not run ANY animal shelters. A majority of the money that they receive goes into passing laws that are aimed at outlawing hunting, closing farms and ranches that raise animals for food. If you are donating money to help animals donate to your local Humane Society.

What is said in these ads is not true. Do not be duped. Rick Berman is the millionaire behind Humane watch, which is a front for the CCF and anti Animal Welfare group. They represent factory farming and big agra. Their sole mission is to defund the humane society which is fighting tooth and nail for Humane treatment of animals currently suffering in factory farms. Do your research, look it up. The Humane Society is an ethical hard-working Agency on behalf of animals, this guy is a corporate monster who wants to take away animals rights. Do your research! http://www.bermanexposed.org/node/305/

Every animal welfarel organization in this country has a specific role to play in animal protection. HSUS is not supposed to be a National Animal Shelter. Local humane societies and spca facilities are there to take in homeless animals. When there are animal cruelty investigations that necessitate assistance in evidence collection, removal and housing of animals or disasters that require rescue and housing of large numbers of pets and livestock it is the National organizations that are called in. Why? Because they have resources and trained personnel and equipment that local shelters do not. They provide training and grants to local shelters as well and yes they have highly skilled lawyers who lobby on behalf of animals because it is necesaary. Anytime you have the interest of greed and money vs the interests of animals the animals will lose to selfishness and greed unless someone is willing to stand up and represent them. Would you expect anyone less than a skilled lawye would be sent to do this job. Many people enter law school with this specific goal in mind and this repeated career choice is not at all a result of not being able to find other employment. I can't think of a more rewarding career than helping to protect animals frim cruelty and exploitation. Anyone intimidated by their accomplishments has an interest in animal exploitation.
