Don't Give Up Yield to Fungal Foes

March 4, 2010

Pam Smith, Farm Journal Seeds & Production Editor

The 2009 growing season was a wet, fungal mess for many crop farmers. Randy Myers, Bayer CropScience product manager, says growers need to think ahead as they go into another potentially wet spring.

Seed treatments have become an important part of the planting package, Myers says. "A lot of times, growers ask, What will this product do to increase my yields?" Myers notes. "However, in some cases, it may be more important to ask, What happens if I don't use it?"

Listen in as Myers discusses white mold in soybeans, seed treatments and the need to scout fields to make sure you're not giving up yield to fungal foes.
