In an effort to inform anhydrous ammonia applicators about safety precautions, the Illinois Fertilizer and Chemical Association (IFCA) and Illinois Department of Agriculture (IDOA) created a 12-mintue video for farmers to watch.
The video covers the most common safety errors that can create accidents or releases of anhydrous ammonia. It also is a supplement to the training IFCA provides annually to commercial ag retail employees.
Proceeds from a fee on each ton of agricultural fertilizer sold in Illinois from the Fertilizer Research and Educational Council (FREC) helped pay for the video.
A high-resolution of the video can be viewed at the IFCA website or the IDOA's website. Other organizations can embed the video on their websites free of charge.
