June 11, 2010 12:54 PM

The Associated Press is reporting that Billy Joe Gregg, Jr. has pleaded not guilty to 12 counts of animal cruelty and one count of a felony weapons charge.

Gregg is shown allegedly abusing animals in a Mercy For Animals video shot in April and May at Conklin Dairy Farms near Plain City, Ohio.

Last week, Gregg was charged with improperly handling a firearm in a motor vehicle, a fourth-degree felony, according to the Columbus, Ohio Dispatch. A loaded handgun was found in Gregg's vehicle, and was accessible to the operator or passengers without leaving the vehicle, which is a violation of law.

If convicted on the weapons charge, he could face up to 18 months in prison. He also faces up to a fine of $750 and 90 days in jail on each animal cruelty charge, with a maximum combined sentence of 18 months.
