Services from the Skies
To provide another way to view information from your fields, Satshot has expanded its lineup of aerial imagery. Satshot 3D has all the same features—and more—of the Map Center and provides a three-dimensional perspective of a field from the Satshot background imagery combined with a worldwide elevation map. The system also has the ability to import maps and data such as yield, soil, elevation and electroconductivity. Farmers can import raw yield data and retrieve a clean yield map with help from a team of consultants that work with Satshot. Searching for fields will be easier with the incorporated FSA grower database, compliments of a joint venture with Farm Market iD, which uses the latest map-searching capabilities similar to that of mainstream programs. Simply type in a farmer or operation name and watch the three-dimensional system zoom to the requested fields in seconds. In addition, Satshot offers a cell phone application to allow users to access maps created and stored on Satshot 3D. Users are also able to analyze and create zone maps from satellite imagery. Price per growing season: $1 per acre for monthly imagery (100 acre minimum) or $2 per acre for real-time imagery (1,000 acre minimum). Providing a new perspective on precision guidance, Leica now offers the mojo3D with three-dimensional graphics on a 7" touch screen. The Leica mojo3D features integrated Glide technology for 10" pass-to-pass accuracy and comes standard with AB parallel, A+ heading, pivot and fixed contour guidance. Coverage mapping is also a standard feature. The easy-mount antenna allows for quick installation on the vehicle's roof and has a built-in cell modem for in-cab remote service and support with the Virtual Wrench system. Optional features include swath section control and upgrades for RTK positioning. Base price: $3,300. For more information, visit a Leica dealer or www.leica-geosystems.com.
Wireless Data Transfer
Linking the field to the office, Trimble offers EZ-Sync, which is compatible with EZ-Office to wirelessly connect Trimble systems in the field to a remote computer. This product joins a growing segment of the precision ag industry known as telematics. EZ-Sync can be used to transfer planned and completed jobs, guidance lines, soil sampling and scouting maps, application maps and variable-rate prescription maps. The FmX display can be installed on any machine to use EZ-Sync, and EZ-Sync is also compatible with Trimble handheld devices—the Juno and the Nomad 800XC.
