Ag Leader Expands into Water Management

March 24, 2012
By: Ben Potter, AgWeb.com Social Media and Innovation Editor google +

Ag Leader Technology has acquired Soil-Max, which manufactures the Gold Digger tile plow, and Gradient Inc., a company that controls tile plows through its Intellislope GPS-based system. These products allow farmers and tiling contractors to reduce the technical knowledge, labor and time required to install tile, which helps them solve water management challenges in a cost-effective manner. The acquisitions allow Ag Leader entry into the fast-growing precision water-management market. The company says it will develop additional products in this area, including land leveling, waterway grading, ditching and levee building products.

Soil-Max will operate as an independent subsidiary of Ag Leader under the Soil-Max name, while the Intellislope control system will be transitioned to operate on Ag Leader displays in 2012. Intellislope will continue to be available from Soil-Max on Gold Digger plows, and from either Soil-Max or Ag Leader for use on other tile plow brands.

Meanwhile, Ag Leader’s own desktop software will be enhanced to include water management design and documentation functions.
