AGCO Application Equipment has announced that custom applicator Tony Randolph of North Carolina is its 2013 Operator of the Year. Randolph, who was chosen from among four finalists, covers 25,000 acres of corn, soybeans, wheat and other crops each year for Southern States Cooperative, Inc., in Farmville, N.C.

"It humbles me to win and feels good to know that hard work does pay off," says Randolph, who won a Harley-Davidson along with the award. Randolph was recognized for his ability to build relationships with farm customers and give attention to a wealth of details about the challenges customers are facing in the field. He has invited customers to ride with him so he can explain how the machine operates.

"All four finalists have impressive credentials, and each is deserving of this award," say Mark Sharitz, director of marketing, AGCO Application Equipment. "But the passion and dedication shown by Tony earned him the distinction of being 2013 Operator of the Year. He shows tremendous pride in his work, has a great relationship with his customers and does whatever it takes to make sure the job gets done."

Randolph is president of an area motorcycle club that organizes rides benefiting various charitable causes. The club also has hosted activities such as bingo games at facilities for seniors, holiday turkey deliveries to seniors on fixed incomes, adoptions of families at Christmas and a backpack giveaway for children.

The three additional finalists were Ben Hayes of Crop Production Services in Lanark, Ill.; Randy Bauwens of Town and Country Supply Association in Edgar, Mont.; and Tom Leuthardt of New Horizons CHS Service Center in Chokio, Minn.

A panel of AGCO judges selects four finalists from nominations made by agri-retailers throughout the U.S. and Canada. Qualifications include overall professionalism, contributions to their retail organizations and service to local communities.

AGCO manufactures RoGator self-propelled sprayers and TerraGator self-propelled high-flotation applicators.
