IMMIGRATION REFORM:

GOOD MORNING I'M TYNE MORGAN. CLINTON GRIFFITHS IS ON ASSIGNMENT. HOPES OF IMMIGRATION REFORM MEETING THE PRESIDENT'S AUGUST DEADLINE ARE FADING .AND THAT'S OUR TOP STORY ON AGDAY.

LATINO FARMING:

AGRICULTURE IS PAYING CLOSE ATTENTION TO THE IMMIGRATION DEBATE AS IT PERTAINS TO MILLIONS OF HISPANIC FARM-HANDS. BUT THERE'S ALSO A NUMBER OF FARM-OWNERS IN THIS COUNTRY WHO ARE ALSO OF LATINO DESCENT. BUT AS IT TURNS OUT, THE NUMBER OF THOSE FARMERS IN THIS COUNTY ARE DECREASING. IN THIS REPORT FROM THE UNIVERSITY OF MISSOURI, EMILY KAISER TALKS ABOUT A PROGRAM TO ADDRESS THAT TREND.

PORK OUTLOOK:

SEPTEMBER CORN CLOSED DOWN SIX AND THREE QUARTERS WEDNESDAY. THE RECENT DOWNWARD MOVEMENT HAS SPARKED TALKS OF RELIEF FOR U-S FEED USERS.

TEXAS RAIN:

WHILE IT'S BEEN HOT AND DRY IN PORTIONS OF THE EASTERN CORN BELT THIS WEEK, WEST TEXAS IS RECEIVING SOME MUCH NEEDED RELIEF IN THE FORM OF RAIN. THE LATEST DROUGHT MONITOR COMES OUT TOMORROW, BUT PRIOR TO THAT, A LARGE PORTION OF WEST TEXAS AND THE TEXAS PANHANDLE HAD BEEN IN THE MOST SEVERE LEVEL OF DROUGHT. IN TOTALS FROM THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE, SOME AREAS RECEIVED ALMOST 4 INCHES OF RAIN IN THE PAST 72 HOURS. A COUPLE LOCATISN EVEN RECEIVED OVER 5 INCHES OF MOISTURE. THE AREAS HAS BEEN IN A MULTI-YEAR DROUGHT, TAKING ITS TOLL ON AREA PASTURE AND CROP CONDITIONS. OTHER PORTIONS OF THE SOUTHERN U-S ARE STRUGGLING WITH TOO MUCH RAIN.
