GOOD MORNING I'M CLINTON GRIFFITHS. THE LATEST DATA FROM THE USDA SHOWS THE AVERAGE AGE OF AN AMERICAN FARMER CONTINUES TO CLIMB--NOW 59 YEARS OF AGE...THAT'S GOT SOME IN THE INDUSTRY WORRIED ABOUT THE FUTURE. WHICH IS WHY THE DEPARTMENT OF AG IS ROLLING OUT A WHOLE HOST OF PROGRAMS TO HELP YOUNGER FOLKS GET STARTED.

FARM BILL SAVINGS:

CLOSE TO 9-BILLION DOLLARS OF SAVINGS IN THE NUTRITION TITLE OF THE FARM BILL MAY NEVER HAPPEN - AS KEY STATES FIND WAYS AROUND THOSE LIMITS.

VIRGINIA LAW:

VIRIGINA IS TAKING A STAND FOR THE STATE'S AG INDUSTRY. THE GOVERNOR SIGNING A BILL THAT FOCUSES ON INCREASING ECONOMIC OPPORTUNITIES AND DECREASING REGULATIONS ON FAMILY FARMERS.

CROP WATCH:

WINTER ISN'T OVER JUST YET. ANOTHER FRONT IS BRINGING HARSH CONDITIONS TO PARTS OF THE MIDWEST THIS WEEK. METEOROLOGIST MIKE HOFFMAN JOINS US FROM THE AGDAY WEATHER CENTER WITH THIS MORNING'S CROPWATCH.
