IMMIGRATION CEOS:

GOOD MORNING I'M CLINTON GRIFFITHS. AS THE END OF YEAR APPROACHES, WASHINGTON LOOKS FOR ACTION ON IMMIGRATION REFORM BEFORE 2014.

HORSE SLAUGHTER UPDATE:

NOT SO FAST FOR HORSE PROCESSING PLANTS IN NEW MEXICO AND MISSOURI. A FEDERAL APPEALS COURT HAS ISSUED A TEMPORARY INJUNCTION, BARRING THE USDA FROM INSPECTING THOSE HORSE SLAUGHTER FACILITIES. VALLEY MEATS IN NEW MEXICO TELLS AGRITALK THEY HOPED TO OPEN FOR BUSINESS IN THE NEXT 7 TO 10 DAYS FOLLOWING THE DISMISSAL OF AN HSUS LAWSUIT LAST WEEK. THE APPEALS COURT SAYS THE PLANTS SHOULD REMAIN SHUTTERED UNTIL THE APPEAL CAN BE HEARD. A VALLEY MEATS ATTORNEY SAYS REGARDLESS THEY PLAN TO OPEN NEXT WEEK...ADDING ITS LIKELY THE HEARING COULD ALSO HAPPEN THAT QUICKLY.

I80 WESTERN IOWA:

THIS WEEK WE'RE IN IOWA FOR THE I-80 HARVEST TOUR. MONDAY'S CROP PROGRESS REPORT SHOWS 75-PERCENT OF IOWA CORN AND 95-PERCENT OF THE STATE'S SOYBEANS ARE HARVESTED. USDA-NASS SAYS THIS MARKS THE FIRST TIME ALL SEASON CORN PROGRESS WAS A HEAD OF THE FIVE YEAR AVERAGE. NATIONAL REPORTER TYNE MORGAN HITS TWO STOPS - ADAIR COUNTY AND SHELBY COUNTY - TO GAUGE HARVEST, TYNE.
