GOOD MORNING I'M CLINTON GRIFFITHS. EVEN AMID A GOVERNMENT STALEMATE--WORD THAT WORK ON A NEW FIVE YEAR FARMBILL MAY YET MOVE FORWARD.

THUNE LETTER:

IN OUR BEEF TODAY REPORT, REPRESENATIVE NOEM'S COUNTERPART SENATOR JOHN THUNE IS MAKING HIS OWN PLEA FOR SOUTH DAKOTA RANCHERS. HE WROTE TWO LETTERS--ONE TO SPEAKER BOEHNER THE OTHER TO AG SECRETARY TOM VILSACK ASKING FOR ASSISTANCE FOR THOSE SUFFERING HISTORIC LOSSES. TO BOEHNER HE ASKED THE CONGRESSMAN TO QUICKLY APPOINT CONFEREES.

DAKOTA CATTLE:

THE LIVESTOCK DEVASTATION APPEARS TO THE WORST IN SOUTH DAKOTA WHERE UP TO 30 INCHES OF SNOW FELL. AS PASTURES MELT ECONOMIC LOSSES COULD BE IN THE MILLIONS OF DOLLARS MAKING IT THE WORST WINTER STORM IN THE STATE'S HISTORY. REPORTER, CLIFF NAYLOR WITH AFFILIATE K-F-Y-R TRAVELED TO NORTHWEST SOUTH DAKOTA. I WILL TELL YOU, EVEN THOUGH WE ARE AN AG SHOW, THIS STORY CONTAINS SOME GRAPHIC IMAGES, SO VIEWER DISCRETION IS ADVISED

HENDERSON:

THESE CATTLE LOSSES COME AT A TIME OF RELATIVELY STRONG PRICES AND FALLING FEED COSTS. THOSE TWO INCENTIVES HAVE INDUSTRY WATCHERS ANTICIPATING A REBOUND IN THE NUMBER OF CATTLE IN U.S. PASTURES. BEEF TODAY EDITOR GREG HENDERSON SAYS HE THINKS REBUILDING IS ABOUT TO SERIOUSLY BEGIN.
