FARM BILL CONFEREES:

GOOD MORNING I'M CLINTON GRIFFITHS.COULD TODAY BE THE DAY? THE DAY THAT A FIVE YEAR FARM BILL MOVES TO THE HOUSE AND SENATE NEGOTIATION TABLE. THAT EXPECTATION IS OUR TOP STORY THIS MORNING ON AGDAY.

SOUTH DAKOTA FUND:

MEANWHILE IN NOEM'S HOME STATE OF SOUTH DAKOTA, RANCHERS CONTINUE TO CLEAN UP AND GATHER EXPIRED CATTLE AFTER LAST WEEKEND'S MASSIVE SNOW STORM. EARLY ESTIMATES SAY BETWEEN 60 AND 75-THOUSAND HEAD MAY HAVE DIED..ALTHOUGH THERE'S NO OFFICIAL COUNT YET.

CROP WATCH:

WITHOUT THE REGULAR USDA REPORTS, WE DON'T REALLY KNOW HOW MUCH OF THE NATION'S CROPS HAVE BEEN HARVESTED. BUT ANECDOTAL FIELD REPORTS FROM AGWEB GIVES US A GLIMPSE OF FIELD CONDITIONS
SALMONELLA OUTBREAK:

THE CDC HAS RECALLED SOME FURLOUGHED EMPLOYEES DUE TO A SALMONELLA OUTBREAK. SOME 300 PEOPLE ARE REPORTED SICK FROM CHICKEN--LINKED TO FOSTER FARMS IN CALIFORNIA. THE CDC SAYS ITS RECALLING INVESTIGATORS INCLUDING DATA ANALYSTS AND EPIDEMIOLOGISTS WHO HELP TRACK FOODBORNE ILLNESSES. OFFICIALS AT USDA AND THE CDC ARE NOW WORKING TO TRY TO PINPOINT THE CAUSE AND BREADTH OF THE OUTBREAK.
