FARM BILL HEARING:

GOOD MORNING I'M TYNE MORGAN IN FOR CLINTON GRIFFITHS. WE ARE TWO MONTHS AWAY FROM 2014, BUT TODAY LAWMAKERS TAKE STEPS TOWARDS ENACTING THE 2013 FARM BILL.

SOUTH DAKOTA LOSSES:

SOME FARMERS ARE FEELING THE EFFECTS OF THE EXPIRED BILL. THE EARLY BLIZZARD IN SOUTH DAKOTA KILLED THOUSANDS OF CATTLE. A FEDERAL DISASTER PROGRAM THAT COULD HAVE HELPED COVER LOSSES HAS LONG-SINCE EXPIRED.

I80 HARVEST MICHIGAN:

AS WE CONTINUE OUR INTERSTATE 80 HARVEST TOUR, WE MAKE A STOP IN MICHIGAN.
WE'VE BEEN HEARING GOOD THINGS FROM FARMERS THERE. YESTERDAY'S CROP RPOGRESS REPORT SHOWED HARVEST IS AT 31 PERCENT COMPLETE, THAT'S 10 POINTS BEHIND AVERAGE. YIELDS, ON THE OTHER HAND, AREN'T LAGGING. IN FACT, THEY'RE PRETTY GOOD.

ARKANSAS SOYBEANS:

COMING UP TOMORROW WE'LL HEAR ABOUT THE BIG BEAN SUCCESS IN ARKANSAS.
FARMERS HAVE BEEN WORKING FOR YEARS TO BREAK 'TRIPLE DIGITS'. THIS YEAR IT HAPPENED...AND MORE THAN ONCE.
