Beef Takes a Spin on the Wheel!

December 10, 2011

Get ready to watch beef take a spin on "Wheel of Fortune." The dinner-time TV game show will be offering a $1,000 gift card from Beef Bucks,a nonprofit organization that encourages beef consumption through the sale of gift cards that can be used in fast-food restaurants, steak houses, retail meat markets, grocery stores and home delivery services.

Beginning Jan. 9, a $1,000 prepaid Beef Bucks Visa debit card will appear as one of the gift tags on the colorful wheel that contestants spin for prizes. Landing a spot for Beef Bucks on "Wheel of Fortune" was an effort in tenacity and dedication for the people who direct the nonprofit, South Dakota–based organization, whose primary purpose is to promote beef and educate consumers on beef nutrition and cooking.

"We were pretty excited when we received the call in August from the people at ‘Wheel of Fortune,’ " says Bob Montross, beef producer, farmer and one of the eight directors of the organization.

The effort to get Beef Bucks accepted as one of the gift tags began almost two years ago as he watched an episode of the game show. "I thought, ‘If we could get Beef Bucks on the prize wheel on ‘Wheel of Fortune,’ we could be promoting beef to millions across the country,’ " Montross explains.

The Beef Bucks gift tag will appear on the wheel during the week of Jan. 9 through Jan. 13.

To date, Beef Bucks has sold more than $1 million of its beef-only checks and reloadable Visa debit cards backed by two financial institutions. Beef Bucks have been used in more than 40 states. To order your Beef Bucks, go to or call (888) 640-MEAT.
