Corn and Wheat Export Inspections Impress

Following are highlights of the Grain Export Inspections Report for the week ended April 10, 2014.

Corn

Comments:

Inspections were up 138,248 MT from last week and they topped pre-report expectations. Inspections are running 116.5% ahead of year-ago compared to 110.8% ahead the week prior. USDA's 2013-14 export forecast of 1.750 billion bu. is 139.4% above the previous marketing year.

Wheat

Actual (MT)

683,544

Expectations (MT)

450,000 - 550,000

Comments:

Inspections were up 57,140 MT from the week prior and the tally topped expectations. Inspections for 2013-14 are running 18.4% ahead of year-ago, compared to 18.7% ahead last week. USDA's export forecast for the 2013-14 marketing year is at 1.175 billion bu., up 16.7% from the previous marketing year.

Soybeans

267,939

Expectations (MT)

325,000 - 425,000

Comments:

Export inspections were down 241688 MT from last week and below expectations. Inspections for the 2013-14 marketing year are running 22.1% ahead of year-ago compared to 21.9% ahead the week prior. USDA's 2013-14 export forecast is at 1.580 billion bu., up 19.7% from year-ago.
