Corn Export Inspections Impress, Soybeans Slow As Expected

Following are highlights of the Grain Export Inspections Report for the week ended April 17, 2014.

Corn

Comments:

Inspections were up 119,388 MT from last week and they topped pre-report expectations. Inspections are running 124.2% ahead of year-ago compared to 116.5% ahead the week prior. USDA's 2013-14 export forecast of 1.750 billion bu. is 139.4% above the previous marketing year.

Wheat

500,000 - 700,000

Comments:

Inspections were down 216,977 MT from the week prior and the tally was just shy of expectations. Inspections for 2013-14 are running 17.0% ahead of year-ago, compared to 18.4% ahead last week. USDA's export forecast for the 2013-14 marketing year is at 1.175 billion bu., up 16.7% from the previous marketing year.

Soybeans

Expectations (MT)

135,000 - 350,000

Comments:

Export inspections were down 129,652 MT from last week and within expectations. Inspections for the 2013-14 marketing year are running 22.0% ahead of year-ago compared to 22.1% ahead the week prior. USDA's 2013-14 export forecast is at 1.580 billion bu., up 19.7% from year-ago.
