New program seeks to recognize those advancing the fertilizer industry and agriculture through innovative technologies.

Know someone who has made outstanding achievements in research, extension or education that has improved fertilizer technology? The Fertilizer Industry Round Table (FIRT) has created a new program to recognize such achievements.

"Innovation is what our industry needs," says Larry Taylor, FIRT chairman. "We welcome new research that has practical application benefiting agricultural production and sustainability. Originality, quality and practical application is what we are seeking."

The deadline has been extended to Aug. 30. To apply, visit www.firt.org or contact DMessick@sulphurinstitute.org for details. The winner will receive $2,500 and be invited to attend FIRT’s conference held in Savannah, Ga., on Nov. 18-20 to present an overview of his or her research and its application.

Founded in 1951, FIRT is a nonprofit volunteer organization to develop and improve all aspects of the fertilizer industry.
