Farmers spending the weekend in Atlanta had a chance to learn how to use social media more effectively during the AgChat Foundation training seminar held in conjunction with the 2011 Ag Connect Expo and the 2011 American Farm Bureau Federation annual convention.
Farmers from across the country joined forces to teach others about using social media to tell the stories of their farms and ranches. Topics included insights about Twitter, Facebook and Blogging during the workshop presented by AgChat Foundation board members.
The AgChat foundation encourages farmers to advocate for agriculture by building relationships with consumers via the internet. California cattle rancher, Jeff Fowle, seeks to build trusting relationships with people from several demographics. “I take lowest common denominators, likes that I have, and I seek out other individuals who share that lowest common denominator,” Fowle said. His Twitter followers range from “mommy bloggers” to NASCAR fans, vegetarians and even vegans.
