To support faster fill rates, provide more storage in a smaller footprint, and increase peak capacities GSI introduces the 40 Series grain bins as an all-new bin series.
Replacing the Red Iron Roof design, the Z-Tek roof features Z-shaped purlins (diagram below) that require less material but increased strength. Using 3-D analysis software and real-life simulation testing, GSI confirmed load capacity up to 40 lb. per foot on the Z-Tek roof. A 90’ bin was constructed on the south side of GSI’s office in Assumption, IL. The engineering team used more 6 miles of wire for data collection as they tested the roof capacity. The roof design was tested to total load of 225,000 lb. with rocks loaded on the roof and weights hung from the temperature cables.
The roof features standard temperature cable brackets to speed up construction of the bin. Also for faster construction of 40 series bins, there is one common purlin clip across the design.
To accommodate larger conveyors, the 40 series is outfitted with a bigger flat top.
The stiffeners are built with a new profile and with stronger 2-gauge material that support additional rings for increased bin height. Paired with the stiffeners is an updated wind ring design.
The rolled structural base angle has also changed to improve sealing capability and ensure grain quality.
Ranging from 18’ to 135’ diameter, all sizes are single sweep capable. And capacity ranges from 7,000 to 1.2 million bu.
In 2013 GSI dryers will feature patent-pending high efficiency burners. The improved design produces a cleaner flame for increased fuel efficiency and better flame recognition, which both lower operating costs.

The new Vision N2 replaces GSI’s first portable dryer control system, Vision, which was introduced nine years ago. The new dryer controller provides easy control and change of dryer modes and monitor mechanical performance and other grain quality factors in real-time with a more dynamic touch-screen. The screen measures 12.1" and has 3-D animation to monitor all essential moving parts within the dryer.
