Irrigation Meter Calculator

October 11, 2013
By: Jo Windmann, Web Producer

This app calculates the number of inches of water applied by irrigation over a given time.

Calculating the amount of water applied to a field can help boost yields and improve effinciency. With that in mind, the University of Nebraska created a new app that allows you to easily estimate the amount of water (in inches per acre) your irrigation system is pumping and it is simple to use.

By entering these four key pieces of information you'll get an inch/acre estimate. Simply key in:

  1. Water flow meter type,
  2. Beginning Meter reading,
  3. Ending meter reading and
  4. Acres Irrigated

It's that simple. Of course, this tool is for educational purposes only and is an estimate, but it is a handy piece of information to have to improve soil health and crop performance.
