Working together, John Deere and Hillco Technologies have engineered a cob collection system for John Deere STS Combines. The system provides harvest of grain and cobs with one pass through the field.

The Hillco Cob Collection System attaches to the rear of the combine without additional welding or cutting. Installing the system for the first time could take around a day and a half, and uninstalling and reinstalling could take an hour to two hours.

Two fans in the cleaning chamber feature adjustable fan settings. Operators can engage the system and collect 70% cobs by weight up to 90% cobs by weight.

The Hillco Cob Collection System can use either a combine-pulled dump cart or a tractor-pulled dump cart.

With one-button control, the system can be engaged and turned off to return to solely harvesting grain. Therefore, the system can be left installed during soybean harvest.

Lenny Hill, president of Hillco Technologies, says the company co-engineered the product with John Deere and his company’s experience with combine leveling systems aided in the project’s development.

The Hillco Cob Collection System is approved by John Deere for use with 9670, 9770 and 9870 model STS Combines. All original combine warranties remain in full effect after the installation of the system. There is limited availability of the units for the 2010 harvest season.
