John Deere Unveils Row Crop Tractors with Interim Tier 4 Engines

August 26, 2010

The new 8R / 8RT Series tractors span six models with wheels and three models with tracks, and each offers 10 to 15 engine horsepower increases over the 2010 models.

8rtractorIT4All 8R and 8RT models are powered by new PowerTech PSX 9.0L engines that meet upcoming Interim Tier 4 emissions regulations. These in-line, dual turbo-charged, six-cylinder engines use exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) technology and an exhaust filter that automatically cleans itself during normal machine operation. All engines feature full-authority electronic controls, high-pressure fuel systems and air-to-air after-cooling systems.

On top of power increases, these tractors are outfitted with telematics–a remote monitoring technology. The tractors come with JDLink Ultimate Service and Service Advisor Remote, complimentary for one year, which allows the tractor to send location, operation and performance data via the Web and cell phone. Technicians at the dealership can remotely identify the problem, determine the tractor's location and address the problem.

The new 8R Series Tractors offer the new ActiveCommand Steering (ACS) option, which uses advanced steering technology to deliver comfort and control, especially at transport speeds.

In the cab farmers can reduce cab clutter with a new GreenStar 3 CommandCenter display outfitted with AutoTrac and Swath Control Pro applications to eliminate the need for additional displays. The optional touchscreen version integrates video for better visibility of implements.
