The Case IH booth at the National Farm Machinery show featured a simulator of an Axial-Flow combine. The simulator showed attendees the threshing system to better understand the entire harvesting system. Each part of the machine was labeled, the machine cutaway provided a one of a kind look inside, and a video monitor showed more detail than could be seen otherwise.
Crops flow through a transition cone which brings the crops up to a 5 mph to threshing speed. The Power Plus CVT rotor brings the grain up to threshing speed gradually resulting in higher grain quality. Crops are fed aggressively through the roller slat feeder chain with minimal grain damage because of the AFX rotor.
The combine has a three speed gearbox rotor, enabling the gradual speed increase of the grain for threshing. The AFX rotor also features a rasp bar and concentric cage which allows for grain control under many different conditions. This combine also features adjustable rotor vanes which allow for customizable crop flow.
A Tri Sweep Tailing processer sends the grains for cleaning without interrupting crop flow. The Axial-Flow combine has a cross flow cleaning fan, powered by hydraulics. The hydraulic drive allows a maintained cleaning fan speed as the combine engine fluctuates RPMs. This combine claims the largest cleaning system in the industry allowing for cleaner grains and higher quality grain samples.
After the grain is sifted the residue is expelled out the back of the combine after passing through a chopper. The Axial-Flow combine features a two speed chopper; a faster speed for chopping straw and a slower speed for harvesting corn. The Magnacut Chopper is one of four options on the Axial-Flow combine. This chopper option features individual knife protection to keep knives from foreign objects.
The Axial-Flow combine is highly customizable featuring several header and chopper options as well as several engine options. From crop input to the grain wagon Farm Show attendees had the chance to witness firsthand the operations of the Axial-Flow combine from Case IH.
