Hydraulics Made to Upgrade
Recognizing the trend for increased hydraulic and electrical capabilities on tractors to handle the power needs of modern planters, Dawn Equipment introduces the Rfx Plus hydraulic down pressure system.
Building on the company’s patented Rfx system, the patent-pending Rfx Plus is an add-on control module that allows individual row down pressure or section control with multiple rows.
"We are looking to provide hydraulic systems that efficiently use the hydraulic and electrical resources of the tractor," explains Joe Bassett, president of Dawn Equipment. "The Rfx Plus system is designed to use the absolute minimum power from the tractor—hydraulic or electric—while providing a solution that can be scaled for large or small planters."
The system can be sold complete or as a retrofit for existing Rfx systems, which can be outfitted on John Deere, Case IH and Kinze planters.
"Much like row unit clutches, farmers can now fine-tune the resolution of control for down pressure to best suit their needs," Bassett says. "Farmers can start with something simple and add control complexity as their precision needs change, without obsoleting their existing equipment."
The Rfx Plus also features automatic collision response, which allows the equipment to better respond and absorb any in-field obstacles, reducing unnecessary wear and tear on parts. The control module has an integral pressure transducer that will allow for precise control, as well as high-resolution data-logging capabilities.
"We’ve been testing the compact hydraulic cylinders and row accumulators for seven years, and they use the same technology as the Gfx," Bassett says. "At Dawn, we have three goals: sell creative products we’ll stand behind, make products that are serviceable, and offer products that farmers can scale up and grow with as their needs expand."
The purchase of Dawn premium products, including Gfx and Rfx, gives the buyer the option of selecting the Dawn Premium Installation Program, which provides a two-man Dawn team to install the equipment at the dealership or farmer’s location.
All Dawn hydraulic actuators are covered by a five-year "no leaks" conditional warranty.

Carts Extend Capacity Range
Broadening Brent’s lineup of 96-Series Avalanche Grain Carts are three models intended to complement the existing 2,000-bu. capacity 2096 Model introduced in 2011. The new models, available in green or red, are the 1596 (1,500 bu.), 1396 (1,300 bu.) and 1196 (1,100 bu.).
Features include a new multi-directional downspout for optimum grain placement control. A pistol-grip control offered on the 1396 and 1196 saves tractor driveline wear and tear by allowing easy adjustment of the auger and downspout. Like the 2096, the 1596 features a five-function control that minimizes hydraulic outlet requirements. The pivoting auger provides more than 5' of hydraulically controlled height adjustability ranging from 10'5" to 16'6", depending on the model. It can extend up to 8'11" from the cart. The carts’ exclusive drivetrain pairs a belt-driven 20"-diameter auger with a direct-drive 90° angle gearbox for the vertical auger, sized at 24" for the 2096 and 22" for all other models. The grain carts can unload up to 1,000 bu. per minute.
Other features include a new rubber-cushioned tongue suspension, cast 2" single-tang hitch with chamfered opening, 12-gauge steel shell and special alloy, and stress resistant steel spindles. The list price starts at $80,995, which includes a tarp and 1050/50x35 tires. For more information, visit www.unverferth.com.
