At its 2010 national dealer and sales meeting, Great Plains Manufacturing introduced a diversified product lineup. The company unveiled the Nutri-Pro fertilizer toolbar, planting and seeding machines and other new and revamped products.

The Nutri-Pro, available in 30' to 40' working widths, is built with a leading coulter followed by an anhydrous knife, a single 20" Vantage liquid coulter or a double row-cleaner three-coulter system. The fertilizer toolbar is available as a floating-tongue pull-type model, a three-point mounted unit or a semi-mounted unit with life-assist wheels. All models fold to 17'4" or less for transport.

Revamped planting technologies include the Row-Pro system and Swath Command. Row-Pro works in conjunction with the company’s 25 Series row unit and IntelliAg control system to automatically maintain the selected down pressure on the row unit, while keeping sidewall compaction to a minimum. The Swath Command control system can save time and up to 18% in seed costs by eliminating the loss associated with overplanting or double planting.

With smaller-acreage farmers in mind, the new four-, six- and eight-row Yield-Pro planters feature the Air-Pro metering system. The planters can be built for 30" or twin rows and are available in three-point-mounted or pull-type configurations.

The 2007HD 20' and 3007HD 30' narrow-transport air drills sport capacity, flexibility and a 10' transport width. Farmers can choose 6" or 7½" row spacings (or 10" with 3007HD)and one of three cart configurations. Ground-hugging flexibility and agg-ressive soil penetration are also standard features of the air drills.

Semi-mounted fertilizer carts allow owners of Great Plains YP-2425, YP-30 and YP-40 planters to apply seed and fertilizer in one pass across the field. Mounted via a quick hitch, these fertilizer carts ride on high-flotation, heavy-duty caster wheels that can run between both 30" rows and twin rows.

The SS1800 and SS2000 folding in-line subsoilers are built for big acreage and high horsepower, but engineers remembered the importance of a narrow transport width. The 20' Model SS1800, designed for tractors up to 480 hp, folds to 13'1", and the 25' Model SS2000, designed for 500 hp, folds to 15'5".

Because a farmer’s time is valuable, the 8000 Series Disc-O-Vator Narrow combines disking, cultivating, harrowing and herbicide incorporation into one pass. As the name suggests, it folds to a narrow 9'11" width for transport between fields.

When farmers check out the Great Plains 8000 Series field cultivators for 2011, they’ll

notice the machines have been beefed up and are better balanced when compared with previous cultivator models.
