New Cotton Varieties Announced

March 10, 2012
By: Rhonda Brooks, Farm Journal Seeds & Production Editor

Bayer CropScience offers two new cotton seed varieties for 2012: FiberMax (FM) 1944GLB2 and Stoneville (ST) 5445LLB2. Each variety raises the bar in yield and quality and helps control glyphosate-resistant weeds. Both include Bayer’s GlyTol glyphosate-tolerant technology, launched in 2011, and LibertyLink trait technology tolerant to Liberty herbicide, formally called Ignite.

FM 1944GLB2 offers farmers in the Southwest and Eastern U.S. advanced trait technology. ST 5445LLB2 gives farmers from the mid-Atlantic to the mid-South who want to rotate herbicides a second option with LibertyLink technology.
