The ability to analyze and reduce the amount of energy and money you spend on irrigation is only a click away. An online tool from the National Resources Conservation Service helps determine how to improve your system’s efficiency based on setup, type and water pressure.
The Irrigation Energy Self-Assessment tool works with center-pivot, linear-move, hand-move, solid-set, side-roll, furrow, flood and drip/trickle systems. To use the tool, input your ZIP code and provide various details about your system, such as the type, energy source, the last time a pump test was performed, pipe measurements, fitting types and irrigator span.
The tool then estimates areas for potential energy savings. This might include reducing system pressure, increasing pumping efficiency, using irrigation scheduling and better managing your equipment.
