Enabling RFID technology on the typical universal key allows the key to carry operator settings and authorizations. The chip stores individual driver-specific settings, and it stores operator-specific authorization to operate vehicles in the fleet. Keys for older machines can be retrofitted with this system. The idea was given a silver medal at Agritechnica 2011.
