A smorgasbord of weather is being offered up to this spring, reports USDA. Flooding, drought and La Nina will all be features of spring 2011.
Brad Rippey, USDA meteorologist, says a strong La Nina in the Pacific will affect the entire U.S.
“The effect of La Nina is so profound on the Earth’s atmosphere that we’re continuing to see effects even though we have seen some warming of the water,” he says. “It’s still cool enough to affect this Spring weather pattern pretty much around the globe.”
Rippey expects flooding to occur across the upper Midwest, as snow continues to melt.
