This year, skip the flowers and jewelry. Instead of buying traditional Valentine’s Day gifts for your sweetheart, share the love of agriculture with people across the world. Today, the average U.S. farmer feeds 155 people. Even so, more than 1 billion people go to bed hungry every night, according to United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization statistics. Farmers Feeding the World, the first initiative from the Farm Journal Foundation, shares your donations in two endeavors: putting food and the ability to grow food in the hands of the hungry and educating the public on the critical importance of sustainable commercial agriculture.

Our goal is to provide:

• permanent hunger solutions for 140,000-plus people annually through agricultural development organizations, such as Heifer International;
• immediate assistance for 5 million people annually through relief organizations, such as Feeding America.
• education about the benefits of modern, sustainable, commercial agriculture to more than 2 million nonfarm consumers annually.
