Try This Easy Step to Evaluate Corn Harvest Losses

As you combine corn this fall, take a few minutes in the field to evaluate how much grain your combine leaves behind. Missy Bauer says farmers should aim to lose no more than 1 bushel per acre, as a general rule-of-thumb.

“If you have losses greater than that, then it’s time to adjust your combine settings,” says Bauer, Farm Journal associate field agronomist.

In the following video, she demonstrates an easy method for evaluating harvest losses and some tips on fine-tuning your combine settings.
