USDA Announces Corn Sale to Mexico

October 24, 2013 03:34 AM

Private exporters reported to USDA export sales of 210,000 metric tons of corn for delivery to Mexico during the 2014-15 marketing year. The marketing year for corn began Sept. 1.

USDA issues both daily and weekly export sales reports to the public. Exporters are required to report to USDA any export sales activity of 100,000 metric tons or more of one commodity, made in one day to one destination, by 3 p.m. Eastern time on the next business day following the sale. Export sales of less than these quantities must be reported to USDA on a weekly basis.

Meghan says: This along with today's stronger-than-expected weekly export sales tally for the week ended Oct. 3 signals end-users see current prices as a value. But with harvest ongoing, this is proving enough to limit the market's downside, but it is not yet enough to spur active buying interest.
