JOHN’S OPEN:

HELLO AND WELCOME TO U-S FARM REPORT, I'M JOHN PHIPPS. REMEMBER BACK WHEN WE WERE ALL WORRIED ABOUT URBAN SPRAWL DURING THE HOUSING BOOM. THEN THE MORTGAGE FINANCE DEBACLE EXPLODED AND RAPIDLY EXPANDING SUBURBS CAME TO A HALT, EVEN TO THE POINT OF SHRINKING. SOME FARMERS HAVE BOUGHT BACK LAND SOLD FOR DEVELOPMENT AT A FRACTION OF THE ORIGINAL SALE PRICE. BUT WAIT, THIS STORY MAY NOT BE OVER. AS PROGRESS AND EXCITEMENT BUILD OVER BOTH SELF-DRIVING CARS AND GAS MILEAGE IMROVEMENTS, THE IDEA OF LONG COMMUTES ISN'T AS DREADED AS WE THOUGHT, SOOOO... THERE MAY BE SOME FARMERS BORDERING FAR SUBURBS RESELLING THE SAME LAND FOR WHACKING PRICES. I AM SO HAPPY FOR THEM.
