Yield Maps Help Manage

Because yield maps serve as the foundation for variable-rate planting, fertilizer application and more, it’s critical to use them properly, Farm Journal associate field agronomist Missy Bauer says in Episode 11 of Corn College TV Season 3.

"Utilizing yield maps in your combine sounds like an easy thing, but you’ve got to take time to get things calibrated and really do a good job."

The maps help farmers identify management zones, uncovering problems with drainage and fertility.

"We want to separate out these areas of low yield from this higher yield and be able to manage those separately as we go forward," Bauer says.
