Farm Journal Foundation Renews $500K
Commitment to FFA

The Farm Journal Foundation today announced plans to renew its commitment to the "FFA: Food for All" grant program for a second year. As the cornerstone of the partnership, Farmers Feeding the World, along with a match from the Howard G. Buffett Foundation, provided $500,000 to support the competitive "FFA: Food for All" grant program, which funds local FFA chapters’ long-term sustainable projects to fight hunger.

House Ag Committee Farm Bill Markup Completed

Earlier this month, the House Agriculture Committee completed its farm bill markup and passed the bill by a vote of 35-11. Chairman Frank Lucas (R-Okla.) is pleased with the progress, saying that markup completion marks an "important step forward" in the development and writing of the 2012 farm bill. Read More.

"I'm Farming and I Grow It" Goes Viral on YouTube

Kansas State University student Greg Peterson and his two brothers created an incredible parody of LMFAO's song "Sexy and I Know It." They switched "sexy" to "farming," recruited their little sister to film the video on their family farm and the result was a viral video that is serving as a tool to teach others about how food is produced. World Soy Foundation

Soybean farmers have always known their crop has many valuable uses. Feeding kids is the one closest to many of our hearts. Therefore, we launched the World Soy Foundation, which reduces malnutrition through the power of soy.

We know that children do not live by soy alone. That’s why the World Soy Foundation works hard to train parents, cooks and companies to take advantage of how easily soy is added to wheat, corn, rice, cassava and more. The resulting nutritious and delicious foods are as diverse as groundnut stew in Africa, to soy doughnuts in Central America, to naan bread in Afghanistan.

In 2000, an economic forecast showed us the enormous growing demand for protein in developing countries. This role for soy motivated state soybean organizations to ask the American Soybean Association (ASA) to lead a new program, the World Initiative for Soy in Human Health (WISHH), to introduce soy to markets in some of the fastest-growing populations and economies in the world.
