Soybean Squabble: Who is right?

Feb 26, 2009
The nearly-20 year fight between ASA and USB has taken on new life since December 10, 2008. That day the ASA (American Soybean Association) filed its formal complaint with USDA's Office of the Inspector General asking it to investigate allegations of illegal activity and irresponsible spending on USB's (United Soybean Board) part.
A lot is happening this week at the Commodity Classic in Grapevine, Texas, and it appears more will happen as we move closer to Saturday afternoon's resolutions meeting.
For more on why the newly-created U.S. Soybean Federation was formed, click here.
Information on the controversy around who will be seated as a delegate at Saturday's resolutions meeting is available here.
To see a proposed resolution calling for USB and ASA to just get along, click here.
So what do you think? Who’s right in this case? Or is anybody right?

Where did the funds come from for this sophisticated media response from past USB Chairs? I had been told that no checkoff funds (state half or national half)could be used for such efforts.
