Up Close with Award-Winning Restoration

Feb 06, 2012

At the 2012 World Ag Expo (Feb. 14-16) in Tulare, Calif., Chevron Lubricants, makers of the Delo brand of technologically advanced engine oils, lubricants and coolants, will have an award-winning restoration at its booth. The Eufaula FFA of Eufaula, Ala., will highlight its 2011 Delo Tractor Restoration Competition entrant –- a 1968 Massey Ferguson -– which earned the title of Reserve Champion. In 2008, the Eufaula team won the national title for their restoration of a 1946 Case DC.

The Delo Tractor Restoration Competition was established in 1995 to recognize and reward the creativity, technical aptitude and business knowledge of high school-aged FFA members from around the country. Participants develop teamwork, project management, budget management, planning and marketing skills. All of these new skills will enable them to become future leaders in the agriculture community.
Chevron will also focus on providing lubricant-related education to show attendees. Training sessions will be offered at the company’s booth (#O40) and are designed to help attendees understand how to extend service, maximize equipment durability and minimize operating costs by selecting the right lubricants and using proper maintenance practices. Training session participants will receive a Delo camouflage hat and be entered in a drawing for an iPad.

Jay Leno’s Tractor Sells for $500,000

Jan 24, 2012

A very special blue tractor was on the auction block Jan. 21, 2012 in Scottsdale, AZ. ‘Lil Tug, Jay Leno’s 2007 New Holland Boomer Tractor, for the last four years has been the steward of its fellow vehicles in the Leno Garage in California.

But earlier this month, it fetched $535,000 at the Barrett-Jackson Auction.  The proceeds will benefit Fisher House Foundation, which constructs comfort homes to provide free, temporary housing to the families of service members receiving medical care at VA and military hospitals around the world.
The New Holland tractor was signed by George W. Bush, 43rd President of the United States of America, a staunch and vocal supporter of America’s military and their families.

“Sometimes it’s not the injury that you see. We’ve all seen the burn victims, but a lot of guys come back psychologically scarred and they need our help,” said Jay Leno at the auction, just moments before the winning bid. “100 percent of this money will go to Fisher House.”

The tractor auction marks the culmination of New Holland’s “True Blue Salute” program, which launched on Veterans Day in November and offers U.S. veterans and military personnel a $300 discount on the purchase of New Holland Boomer compact tractor models 30, 35, 40 or 50 purchased in North America. New Holland is also donating $100 to the Fisher House Foundation for every Boomer compact tractor sold in North America during the discount period.
On hand at the auction representing New Holland was Executive Vice President, Abe Hughes. In an effort to get the bidding up Abe added a brand new New Holland Rustler to the winner of Lil Tug.
