The Five Second Rule
Sep 13, 2010
I read somewhere lately that there is no truth to the famous "five second rule." You know, it’s when you drop a piece of food on the floor and if you pick it up before five seconds has passed it’s perfectly safe to eat. Naturally some common sense is necessary when applying this rule. Take for instance our home. We have two dogs that shed a third dog every day. There’s hair, hair everywhere. In other words, observe the five second rule at you own peril. Then again, the five second rule doesn’t apply to the dogs. Most of the time they manage to keep both the kitchen and dining room floors spotless. So remember, if you choose practice the five second rule it’s probably good to keep in mind another old questionable maxim... ignorance is bliss.
