The One That Didn't Get Away
Aug 21, 2010
A couple of days ago my son, lured (pun intended), by his coworkers went ocean fishing. Now this wasn’t the first time he has gone fishing. A few weeks ago he landed a bat ray. Pretty cool looking and lucky for the ray it slipped off the hook and fell back in the water. I’m sure by that evening it was telling all its buddies (all named “Ray”) at the bar about how it was “the one that got away.” Anyway, this time the fish he hooked wasn’t so lucky. It was a copper fish (sans whistle and badge) which he proudly brought home after his friends did all the cleaning, etc. In case I haven’t mentioned this before, my wife, the vegetarian, has not had much experience cooking fish but she did an admirable job of preparing it and I must admit it was quite tasty. My son was all grins each time one of us would comment on how flavorful it was he and proudly stated several times how he caught it. The funny thing was that with each telling of the story the fish kept getting bigger. By the end of dinner the fish probably tripled in size. Man, no wonder I was so full!
