Wisdom comes (and sometimes goes) with age...
Jun 18, 2011
I lost a dear friend of mine a couple of weeks back. I have known him all my life. We went back so far we were practically inseparable. I cannot tell you how many times over the years we’d sit down and chew the fat. But he was in pain and it was getting worse. I took him to the doctor but the prognosis was not good. My friend didn’t have long. It would only get worse. To get to the root of the problem would have been risky at best. This opinion was also confirmed by another doctor, a local, highly respected surgeon. In the end all he could do was to try to take something to relieve the pain. Eventually he went peacefully in his sleep, numb to the pain. I too felt the pain of his loss and could hardly eat for a couple of days. I have been told that each day will get a little easier and the pain of the loss will eventually subside. Those are indeed wise words. They say wisdom comes with age, but sometimes it goes with age too...and that’s the tooth.
