Dust Bill Nearing Vote

Nov 30, 2011

By Mike Deering, NCBA Communications

The National Cattlemen’s Beef Association's (NCBA) Beltway Beef weekly audio is ready. NCBA is expecting good news today, Nov. 30, 2011. The U.S. House of Representatives Energy and Commerce Committee is expected to vote on the Farm Dust Regulation Prevention Act of 2011 (H.R. 1633), which was introduced by Congresswoman Kristi Noem (R-S.D.).

NCBA expects the bill, which would stop the Environmental Protection Agency from tightening dust regulations on farmers and ranchers, to be passed by the full committee. NCBA Deputy Environmental Counsel Ashley Lyon said farmers and ranchers deserve regulatory certainty from the Beltway.

Lyon said once the legislation passes out of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, it will come to a vote by the U.S. House of Representatives. Lyon said given the tremendous bipartisan support this legislation has had, she expects the bill to pass.

This weekly commentary features NCBA members, leaders, staff and more week after week. Click here to download this week's segment of Beltway Beef. Click here for all previous clips.
