Success at the special-needs youth hunt!
No pictures yet, but I wanted to give you a quick update about the hunt last weekend near Oregon, Illinois, with a group of special-needs kids. First, thanks to Terry Day and Jerry Bois for making me, Tom and Emily feel like part of the "family" that runs this hunt. And thanks to Seth, Tim and Vicki for sharing a really cool weekend with us.
It's hunting... so the group didn't get a bird for all the kids, but three very nice toms were taken by three really cool kids. The story is excellent... and it will tug at your hearts when you see it this fall! The kids all had a great time getting to know their mentors and we could tell the mentors are a bunch of really cool guys that "gave up" their weekend to spend time with these kids. It was awesome to be a part of it.
Also... special thanks to Craig Waters. He's an Illinois farmer that volunteered his ground for two of the kids to hunt on. Wait until you see his ground and hear his story about what he's done to improve habitat for turkeys, upland birds, deer and waterfowl. (I wish I had his 160-acre CRP field in my back yard!)
Don't forget...
If you can't watch on RFD-TV every Thursday at 7:30 a.m. CT or Saturday at 10:30 a.m. CT, you can always watch the shows here on the web site.
And most importantly, keep on having fun outdoors on the farm!
